Everyone loves to see a newly cleaned floor. At Buzz Brite, we too have satisfaction when we look back at a job we have completed. But with time and use, floor will deteriorate and they will need another professional service visit. To help control costs, it is important to know how to keep the floors looking good longer. Is there anything you can do to prolong the clean look?
Here are some tips you might find helpful:
- Waxed Floors. Vinyl, concrete or linoleum floors that have been waxed can look great up to 3 times longer if regular general cleaning is done. This is especially true through the winter months. Ice melter and other debris can act like sand paper under peoples feet. For this reason, sweeping daily and using entrance mats will make a significant difference. When selecting an entrance mat please consider the tips we shared in our previous tip: How to avoid yellow stains. Additionally by not dragging heavy objects over the floors you will avoid scratches.
- Carpets and rugs: We all know to avoid spills and vacuum regularly to keep carpeting looking good. Still, spills happen. So be prepared by having spot cleaner handy and use it immediately after a spot has been found. Please be sure to follow the bottles instructions. Did you have a large spill? Wiping it up with a rag in a rotating motion may spread it or rub it in worse. Instead dab the surface with a dry rag to absorb the liquid and then use a spotter cleaner. Another option is to treat your newly cleaned carpets with a protestant coating like 3M Scotch Guard. These coatings will repel stains but if it doesn’t guaranty that nothing will stain. Acting quickly will always be the best solution.
